Meek Mill’s Letter to His Younger Self Is the Inspiration You Needed on a Thursday.

The phoenix who rose from the ashes. For XXL’s October cover, Meek Mill penned a letter to his younger self detailing his road to success—which hasn’t been easy.

“Life is about to get very real for you,” he says at the top of his letter. “Like, beyond your dreams and nightmares.”

He goes on to write about how his struggles set the stage for “a greater tomorrow” and highlights his purpose to “inspire, awaken and motivate the generations to come.”

“I know it’s a lot to take in but this is your calling,” he says to himself. “Kids everywhere are depending on your rhymes for representation. Think about how abandoned the folks sitting in jail for a crime they didn’t commit feel. Think about how you felt. Then sprint toward your throne as if your life depended on it because many other lives do. But remember: Once you put that crown on, your gifts no longer serve you and your family alone. Your dreams will then belong to the world.”

Read his letter in its entirety here.

A White Man Shot 7 Officers in South Carolina on Wednesday Night. He Was Peacefully Handcuffed.

“The incident began around 4 p.m. EST when investigators from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a warrant at a home in the Vintage Place subdivision, not far from areas devastated by flooding from Hurricane Florence last month,” USA Today reports. “That’s when the suspect began shooting, said Public Information Officer Maj. Michael Nunn.”

Of the seven officers shot, one of them died. The suspect has since been named as Fred Hopkins, 74, according to an anonymous source. The story is still developing.
