Beyoncé Dropped Her Homecoming Doc… WITH A WHOLE LIVE ALBUM.
So that’s the new music folks were talking about. As promised, Beyoncé delivered her Netflix Homecoming documentary last night, but with a special surprise: an accompanying live album. #BeyHive Twitter of course had a whole conniption. Fans were, quite literally, not at all ready.
CNN’s Lisa Respers France called Homecoming “as Black as it can be.”
“Filled with quotes from famed black intellectuals, as well as snippets of an audio diary in which the superstar shares how and why her Coachella performance came to be, ‘Homecoming’ is a love letter to HBCUs (the title alone is a nod to the importance of homecomings on black campuses with its band and drumline performances, as well as sorority and fraternity events),” Respers writes.
“There was also a plethora of emotion and gratitude that such a superstar would use her celebrity to share the beauty, pain and joy that is the black experience,” she adds. “Far from shying away, Beyoncé has embraced her blackness and issues of race.”
LeBron Is Wishing Breanna Stewart a Speedy Recovery.
After suffering a torn Achilles while playing overseas on Sunday, Breanna Stewart is receiving well wishes from all over, including from LeBron James.
“Sucks big time!!!” James tweeted on Tuesday. “🙏🏾 to @breannastewart on a speedy successful recovery/return‼️‼️‼️”
The WNBA MVP—who averaged 21.8 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game in 2018—will likely be out for a season, Deadspin notes.
“I don’t think it’s a career-ending type of injury,” Brian Stewart, Breanna’s father, told Syracuse.com. “But it’s certainly going to put her in the barn for a while.”
We hope to see her back on court soon!
Frank Ocean Is on the Cover of Gayletter.
In Frank Ocean’s latest interview, he talks about everything from his relationship of three years to how writing for others made him a better artist.
We can’t remember the last time we read a Frank Ocean interview, so this could only (maybe? possibly?) mean one thing: new music on the way?
