Drake Boy Meets World Tour - Sydney

Drake has something to be happy about following his hometown Toronto Raptors routing the Orlando Magic four games to one in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. As a huge sports fan, Drake has never been too shy to show his support for his favorite teams or athletes. But with that celebrity comes the superstition from other fans potentially cursing their teams whenever he is present.

For years, Drake’s support for teams, and more notably his Toronto Raptors, have often come with embarrassing defeat in the postseason. In the previous two years, the Raptors met their demise to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers with consecutive sweeps. That didn’t deter the rapper one bit as he kept the support for his hometown teams going. Recently, he showed up to support the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Boston Bruins in the NHL Playoffs. The Maples Leafs would lose that game 6-4 and eventually lose the series 4-3 to Boston.

Things were looking grim early on for the Raptors when they dropped the series opener to Orlando 104-101, prompting many on social media to bring up the “Drake Curse.” The Raptors would bounce back, winning the next four games in dominating fashion and making the Drake Curse apologists breathe easy. Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports managed to catch Drake as he was leaving Scotiabank Arena, poking fun at the modern-day jinx that he bestows.

He tweets: “Drake to the media on his way out of the building. ‘You want me to talk about the curse or you guys good?'”

While it may be one round, it’s gotta feel good for the Canadian superstar to get a win here. The Toronto Raptors are set to meet the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals following their 4-1 series win against the Brooklyn Nets.
