Jay-Z’s Hosting a Tidal Listening Party for the Prince’s Originals LP.

On June 6 in Los Angeles, Jay-Z will host a listening event in celebration of the release of Originals, Prince’s 15-track posthumous LP that was curated by Hov and Troy Carter on behalf of the Prince Estate. You may recall that Prince signed a deal with Tidal in 2015 before his death.

“After one meeting, it was obvious that Jay Z and the team he has assembled at TIDAL recognize and applaud the effort that real musicians put in2 their craft 2 achieve the very best they can at this pivotal time in the music industry,” Prince said in a statement at the time. “Secondly, TIDAL have honored Us with a non-restrictive arrangement that once again allows Us to continue making art in the fashion We’ve grown accustomed 2, and We’re Extremely grateful 4 their generous support.”

Of the forthcoming Originals listening event, Hov stated:

“Prince led the way, for artistic freedom, for ownership. He’s one of the bravest people I can think of in the industry. He trusted us, not just me, but TIDAL, to continue his fight. Trying to help further that legacy through his music is both an honor we couldn’t pass up as an organization dedicated to empowering artists. This gives his true fans that peak behind the curtain.”

Mark Wahlberg Got NBA Star Jimmy Butler to Teach His Daughter How to Play Basketball.

Clearly, when you’re Mark Wahlberg, anything goes. Marky Mark recently hit up Jimmy Butler to teach his daughter how to play basketball, because why hire a regular basketball coach when you can hire a NBA star?

“My Gracie said she wanted to start playing basketball … so I got her a coach,” Wahlberg says in a recent video clip. Wahlberg’s daughter, an excited 9-year-old Gracie, can be seen practicing with Jimmy in the background. “Jimmy Butler coaching little Gracie, oh God,” Wahlberg adds later. “WNBA here we come.”

In WTF News, Black Students Were Cast as Slaves in a New York Teacher’s Mock “Auctions.”

Bronxville, New York’s The Chapel School is under fire after a fifth grade teacher’s mock auction —in which white students were to bid on Black students — “had a profoundly negative effect” on the children. NBC reports that “the school has agreed to diversify its staff and student body.”

As part of that agreement, it must also hire an approved chief diversity officer.

“Every young person — regardless of race — deserves the chance to attend school free of harassment, bias and discrimination,” state Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement. “Lessons designed to separate children on the basis of race have no place in New York classrooms, or in classrooms throughout this country. I thank The Chapel School for agreeing to take measures that directly address the issues of race, diversity and inclusion at the school.”
