who, for whatever reason, are still on the fence when choosing between the disgraced former president,
Donald Trump, or
Vice President Kamala Harris. Now, some Black men are feeling a type of way, while others are saying the truth hurts sometimes.
On Thursday, October 10, Barack Obama made a surprise visit to a field office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for Democratic Presidential nominee Harris ahead of his gloves-off rally speech.
While there, he used the moment to address what seemingly is the elephant in the room: Black male undecided voters and those who think supporting Donald Trump is in their best interest.

“We have not seen the same kinds of energy and turnout in all quarters of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running. Now, I also want to say that that seems to be more pronounced with the brothers,” Obama said.
“And you are thinking about sitting out?” he continued, specifically focusing on those who have decided to sit this election out for whatever reason.
Barack Obama Alludes To The Misogynoir That Is Present
He then shifted his attention to Black men out here who can’t fill in the bubble on the voting ballot for Kamala Harris because they can’t get on board with the idea of a Black woman sitting in the Oval Office.
“Part of it makes me think —and I’m speaking to men directly — part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives, and other reasons for that, he said.
He then pointed out that Black women consistently carried the Democratic Party while always being highly supportive of Black men, pointing out the stark differences between the two candidates. “When we get in trouble, and the system isn’t working for us, they’re the ones out there marching and protesting,” the former president said.
He continued, “On the one hand, you have somebody who grew up like you, knows you, went to college with you, understands the struggles and pain and joy that comes from those experiences. And on the other side, you have someone who has consistently shown disregard, not just for the communities, but for you as a person.”
Some Folks On Social Media Are In Their Feelings
To be expected, some, not all, have different feelings about Obama’s comments. Some point out that his comments didn’t bother them because they knew he wasn’t speaking about them and that his comments were the truth.
Data shows that VP Harris has a substantial majority of Black men supporting her. According to a
recent Howard University Initiative on Public Opinion poll of likely black voters in swing states, 82% of Black male voters intend to vote for Harris, while 12% favor Trump.
When the survey was carried out in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the percentage of Black males under 50 voting for the Republican nominee jumped to 21%.
A recent
New York Times/Siena College poll has Harris sitting at 83% with Black women and 70% with Black men.
There are officially 23 days until the Presidential election. We (specifically this Black man) hope his fellow brothers get out of their feelings and get on the right side of history.
