The case of the Las Vegas strip shooting that left two people dead on Sunday has a suspect in custody.

According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz walked into a Henderson Police Station and turned himself in. He was immediately charged with two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Cops report that the incident occurred Sunday night when they were patrolling South Las Vegas Boulevard, and heard gunfire. They followed the commotion to the west side and upon arrival discovered two victims lying on the ground who had suffered gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel arrived with aid, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruiz’s motive hasn’t been revealed, and according to NBC News, the Clark County Coroner’s Office hasn’t released the victims’ names yet. However, a friend of the victims, Derek Ware, revealed to Fox Las Vegas that they were a couple, Arizona-based YouTubers Rodney “Finny Da Legend” Finley and his wife, Tanisha “Bubbly” Finley.

Finley was livestreaming that night on the Vegas strip and video circulating social media shows a man firing several shots after a brief disagreement with a woman.

Ware says the shooting wasn’t random, as the alleged gunman, Ruiz, known on YouTube as Sin City Manny, pepper-sprayed the wife back in 2023. He adds that Finley was level-headed and never retaliated over the pepper-spraying incident and didn’t think it’d escalate this much.

“That’s just, that’s just sickening. That’s just sick,” Ware said. “What do you get out of that? I don’t get that. You just ruined two families.”

According to Vegas’ 3 News, after turning himself in, Ruiz is claiming he saw Finley reach toward his waistband and say, “What up, cuz?” as well as alleging his wife had a “shiny black object in her hand.”
