After years of writers coming forward about unpaid writing, it looks like #EbonyOwes may have finally paid off. Multiple writers took to Twitter Monday to share their victory in winning a lawsuit against the notable Black magazine, which had reportedly owed writers money for work dating as far back as 2013.
While celebration is certainly warranted, it’s also important to consider what this means for Black media going forward. Is this the start of better days? Will the cycle continue? In the meantime, folks are being encouraged to continue supporting organizations like the National Writers Union, which represent writers in fights for justice.
