Los Angeles Lakers v New York Knicks

Since LeBron James signed his deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, the burning question for most was how he’d interact with LaVar Ball, father of Lakers point guard Lonzo.

Now LaVar has spoken and, as expected, the trolling continues. Last August, he said he could be Michael Jordan with one arm tied behind his back, and he’s returned with an equally outrageous statement. Not only did Ball say he’d beat James, but even explained how he’d do so.

“[James is] too weak,” Ball said in an interview with Fanatics View. “Back in my heyday, can’t nobody hold me. 270 (pounds), benching 500? All I gotta do is back you in, I’ll lift all of them up off their feet.”

Now, we don’t know how serious Ball is about his claims or if just says outlandish things to keep his name in the news— but it’s working. He did promise that his son Lonzo would stay home and play for the Lakers but the 20-year-old days—or minutes— in LA could be numbered with the signing of Rajon Rondo. Rondo, a veteran guard could surely teach Lonzo and serve as a mentor.

“I know Rondo and I know Lonzo and they’re both very competitive people. To me, that’s where you get the most growth. That’s when you get a team that can reach its full potential. You have people going at each other and pushing each other in practice,” Lakers head coach Luke Walton recently said on CBS’ The Jim Rome Show.

Now, we’ll just have to wait and see how LeBron responds to Ball’s claims. Oh, and if you were wondering how Jordan responded to him saying he’d beat him on one-on-one, he said,  “I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”
