Shia, Shia, Shia… Shia LaBeouf’s issued an apology after footage of him going off on a Black officer hit the Internet. ICYMI: the actor was arrested Saturday for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and obstruction. The leaked video footage shows LaBeouf accusing the cops of arresting him “for being white,” and basically telling a Black officer he was going to hell…for being Black. Sigh. Shia took to Twitter to share his apology on Wednesday.
“I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it,” he wrote. “I don’t know if these statements are too frequent, or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.” LaBeouf is reportedly out of jail on a $7,000 bond.

“Impeach Trump!” “Can we impeach Trump yet?” Los Angeles-area Rep. Brad Sherman—who just introduced articles of impeachment against the president—certainly thinks so, though he knows it may take a while. “I have no illusions,” he said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times last month. “Articles of Impeachment will not pass the House in the near future. But given the risk posed to the Republic, we should move things forward as quickly as possible.” According to the LA Times, “Sherman’s move has put him at odds with House Democratic leaders, who have tried to quiet talk of impeachment, hoping instead to focus on the economy, healthcare and the investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election,” but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Bethune-Cookman University president Edison Jackson is resigning, the Associated Press reports. The university board chairman reportedly made the announcement Tuesday following “controversies involving school finances.” And of course you know Jackson caught a lot of heat for having U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos speak during the HBCU’s spring commencement this year (did you ever read the Black faculty open letter to the 2017 graduates?). Jackson’s contract had not yet ended upon the announcement.
