Today in “everyone is trash” news, Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are at it again— and it seems they’ve taken their rift to a whole new low.

As we regular folk were getting back into the groove after the long holiday weekend, Kardashian took Wednesday morning as a prime opportunity to start some petty ish. The 30-year-old reality star went on a social media rant claiming, among other things, that his former Rob & Chyna co-star sent him nudes yesterday, cheated with a rapper by the name of Ferrari who (allegedly) tried to extort money from him, and that he’s paying for her lifestyle and taking care of their daughter without her. He also posted video that allegedly shows Chyna and Ferrari kissing, along with other more intimate images of the mother of his child.

Chyna defended herself, claiming that Kardashian has put his hands on her and kept her silent about it by promising that he’d have his family make her life miserable if she spoke out. Of course, it wouldn’t be real Twitter drama if all of this wasn’t deleted within minutes of posting.

But here’s my real question: why are we still paying these poor unfortunate souls any mind?

We already know Kardashian is f-cked up. He was born into one of the most famously unhealthy families in the United States. The way that he’s allegedly treated his ex-girlfriends in the past is nothing short of despicable and it seems obvious that he’s a man with a lot of self-esteem issues and no idea of what love should look like.

My first instinct is to defend and protect women (especially women of color) at all costs, but it’s hard not to speculate about how Chyna has fed the messy beast that is her relationship to this messy family. However, if her abuse allegations are true, the plot to this online reality show is even thicker and more dangerous than we have realized.

At the end of the day, we have to hold ourselves responsible for what we consume. We can’t complain about a toxic world when we’re the ones choosing to consume garbage. I write this with the full understanding that I’m giving both time and space to the Kardashian-Chyna fiasco while asking others to do just the opposite — but y’all are still reading…right?
