Between promoting the spirits brands he’s invested in and taunting his frenemies through social media memes, 50 Cent still manages to grow his business empire.

His latest move comes under his G-Unit Films & Television company in Louisiana. He plans to set up shop in Shreveport and build Stageworks into a premier sports and entertainment venue.

According to the Shreveport Times, the rapper will upgrade the massive 77,000-square-foot space to accommodate events such as “amateur and professional basketball and volleyball leagues and tournaments, amateur and professional boxing and MMA matches, seminars, conventions, auto shows, concerts, and general business meetings.”

The lease has been on the city council’s docket since May 2024, but was finally agreed upon after lengthy negotiations and several hiccups.

50 Cent still cracked a joke as a surprise visitor to the Shreveport City Council meetings before the unanimous 7-0 vote, saying, “I’m looking at all these faces and wondering who won’t be voting for me.”

Once the victory was confirmed, he took to the podium again to solidify the community’s trust in the business venture.

“I just want to say, in a short period of time, I’ve come to like the people of Shreveport in a different way, like it feels like a home away from home for me and it will eventually be home, because I have so much work here,” he said. “I promise I will overdeliver with Shreveport.”

It’s also an investment for Shreveport, as they poured $4.7 million into renovating it in 2022. However, due to a lack of proper marketing, the makeover didn’t have the social and economic impact city officials thought it would.

But 50 is ready to change that, even mentioning the success of Humor & Harmony Weekend last summer, where he hosted a celebrity basketball game. And now he’s prepared to keep that momentum going.

“I have programs and plans for the facilities, so you’ll be able to look at the things that are happening throughout the year, and it’ll be actively used in a different way,” he added.

The deal’s details include a 30-year lease with a 15-year renewal option, with G-Unit agreeing to pay the building’s maintenance and operational costs.
