Everything We Know About Drake’s Charity Golf Event

Drake and October’s Very Own family are proving that their influence can stretch far beyond music, fashion and Toronto nightlife. On July 30, OVO hosted its second annual Charity Golf Classic, bringing hundreds of players together for a day that blended golf, luxury and philanthropy while raising money for an important local cause. Clips from the event quickly circulated online, giving fans a look at the kind of first-class experience guests have come to expect whenever Drake and his team put something together.

The tournament reportedly featured 91 teams and 362 golfers, a major increase from OVO’s inaugural outing one year earlier. The event stretched across three golf courses, all of which were said to be sold out, turning the second-year tournament into one of the biggest events on OVO’s growing calendar. While Drake’s celebrity helped draw attention, the Golf Classic was presented as an OVO production rather than simply another personal appearance from the rapper.

This year’s OVO Golf Classic supported Hennick Humber River Health, with Generation Capital serving as the presenting sponsor. Humber River Health operates a hospital network serving communities throughout northwest Toronto, while the Hennick Family Foundation has supported health care, education and other charitable initiatives across Canada. The partnership gave the Golf Classic a purpose beyond competition, helping OVO use one of its most exclusive gatherings to bring additional attention and financial support to health care in its hometown.

Of course, this was still an OVO event, which meant the hospitality appeared to be on another level. Social media footage showed attendees receiving individualized lockers stocked with custom OVO golf apparel, tees, balls and other equipment. Players were reportedly transported in OVO-branded Rolls-Royces, while the courses were filled with food, drinks, gifts and sponsor activations designed to make the tournament feel closer to a luxury retreat.

The clothing was also a major part of the presentation. OVO has continued expanding its golf collection with polos, windbreakers, vests, hats and other pieces that combine traditional country club style with the brand’s familiar owl logos and streetwear influence. The Golf Classic gave OVO the perfect setting to showcase that growing side of the business, with participants essentially turning the course into a live lookbook for the company’s golf apparel.

The tournament also reflects how much bigger golf has become within Hip-Hop and pop culture. Once viewed as a sport reserved mostly for older and wealthier crowds, golf has increasingly attracted rappers, athletes, entertainers and younger fans who are bringing their own fashion, music and personality onto the course. For OVO, that crossover makes perfect sense: golf offers another space where the brand can combine exclusivity, style, networking and competition without losing its connection to Toronto culture.

The OVO Golf Classic ultimately fits into the larger relationship Drake has built with Toronto throughout his career. From OVO Fest and Canada Basketball partnerships to investments in local sports, entertainment and community programs, much of the OVO identity has remained tied to the city that created it. The second annual Golf Classic may have looked expensive and exclusive from the outside, but its growing attendance and charitable focus show that Drake and his team are attempting to build something that can return — and create a bigger community impact every summer.
