Comedian Eric Andre made several statements on social media, holding the hip hop community responsible for supporting artists who’ve been known to abuse women. Andre made specific mention of Kodak Black and XXXTentacion — two rappers the music media supports while ignoring instances of them allegedly putting their hands on and even raping women.

Andre is referring to an incident where XXXtentacion allegedly hit and attempted to strangle his pregnant girlfriend in 2016. Kodak Black manages to have an even bigger issue with the law, as he reportedly faced rape charges in South Carolina in 2016, and has managed to land himself in and out of jail in the months since.

Andre went on to ask his followers to raise their awareness of domestic abuse and sexism, bringing up some terribly sad statistics on the safety of women in our world.

Andre clarified some of his thoughts yesterday (August 21), acknowledging that since we now have “an incompetent psychopath” leading our nation, “it’s no longer acceptable to stay quiet.”
