The 2017 VH1 Hip-Hop Honors Awards, which aired on Monday, was nothing short of nostalgic.  With a ’90s theme throughout, the epic show payed homage to one of the most profound decades in hip-hop.

Changing the landscape of music as we know it, legendary video director Hype Williams was one of the era’s most influential figures. Directing timeless music videos from  The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money, Mo Problems” to Kanye West’s “All of The Light,” the Hip Hop Honors Award recipient confessed that he couldn’t have done it without the help of groundbreaking stylist, fashion designer and costume designer, June Ambrose.

With over 20 years in the game, Ambrose has amassed a long list of A-list clients including Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z , Missy Elliott and Will Smith. Bringing over-the-top, aspirational looks to the hard-edged world of hip-hop, the style guru has created iconic looks for some of the genre’s most memorable music videos and has helped transitioned rappers and actors from baggy streetwear to tailored looks.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at some of the legendary music videos created by Hype Williams and June Ambrose.

“Half on a Baby:” R. Kelly

“The Rain [Supa Dupa Fly]:” Missy Elliott

“I’ll Be:” Foxy Brown feat. Jay-Z
