Chance the Rapper made his return to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the late hours of Monday evening, and he came with new music. Backed by a six-piece accompanying band and joined by rising singer Daniel Caesar, the Chicago native debuted a new, yet-to-be-named record that seemed more spoken word than typical song.

This isn’t the first time Chance released a song on the show, as he performed his song “Angels” featuring frequent collaborator Saba for the first time back in 2015.

“Angels” ended up landing on Chance’s breakout, Grammy-winning project Coloring Book, and while there’s been no indication that the song will appear on a new project, there’s reason to hope for the best. Daniel Caesar is coming off the release of his first studio album Freudian, and is enjoying the project’s positive reception. The Toronto native is slated to start his Fall tour on October 16, kicking off in Philadelphia.
