Converse and Vince Staples have joined forces to celebrate the success of last summer’s Big Fish Theory— the Long Beach native’s sophomore album which released in June. Unlike most of his peers, the rapper prefers to use his platform in a positive way, spitting socially conscious rhymes over house beats. Not only did the album become one of 2017’s most buzzed-about releases, it also helped cement Staples’ status as a trendsetter and influencer.

Extending his extensive Converse collection, Staples took inspiration from Big Fish Theory and revamped the classic Chuck Taylor. The legendary kicks aren’t just a fashion statement for the rapper. As a West Coast native, Chucks have been engraved into his childhood since buying his first pair at a swap meet to match his school uniform.

The collection features plenty of orange as a subtle nod to the goldfish on Staples’ album cover. Two different silhouettes of the Hi and Ox Chuck 70s feature an aquarium image. The Chuck Ox 70s feature a Big Fish Theory graphic outsole with Vince Staples embroidery on the collar. Finally, the Chuck 70 Hi boasts a Big Fish graphic in orange to contrast with the sneaker’s black tongue.
