Terry Crews’ Sexual Assault Case Was Rejected.
Prosecutors reportedly decided not to file charges against William Morris Endeavor, the talent agent who allegedly groped Terry Crews. According to NBC, “the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said Adam Venit, an agent at William Morris Endeavor, twice grabbed Crews by the groin, but because there was no contact with his skin, and no restraint involved, the allegations were not a felony.”
Crews reportedly also filed a lawsuit against Venit. Read more here.
Netflix Is Releasing a Rachel Dolezal Documentary.
Titled The Rachel Divide, the Laura Brownson-helmed film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival ahead of its Netflix release. Brownson says she hopes to challenge viewers to “think more deeply about race and identity in America—and before you ask, yes she is.
“In making the film, I came to a deeper understanding of the raw nerve that Rachel hits in our society, but I also learned that her motivations to identify as she does are far more complicated than most realize,” Brownson told Vulture. The Rachel Divide hits Netflix on April 27.
The Author of ‘Cat Person’ Just Sold a Horror Movie Screenplay.
A24, the same production company that brought us Moonlight, is developing a horror film based on a script by Cat Person writer Kristen Roupenian. Named Bodies Bodies Bodies, the movie is A24’s first spec acquisition. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that, “like ‘Cat Person,’ the script shows heightened sensitivity to character development and social dynamics in a subversive way.”
An “Accidental” School Shooting in Alabama Leaves One Student Dead and Another Injured.
A shooting that occurred at Huffman High in Birmingham, Ala. on Wednesday left a 17-year-old girl dead and a 17 year old injured. At a news conference, Birmingham Police Chief Orlando Wilson did not disclose if the suspected shooter was a student, though he did say it wasn’t a situation involving someone outside of the school. “At this particular time, we’re considering it accidental until the investigation takes us elsewhere,” he also stated.
The shooting comes three weeks after South Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High shooting that left 17 people dead.
