Kendrick Lamar Shuts Down Fan On Stage For Rapping N-Word

Eeek. While headlining Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival, Kendrick Lamar decided to get the crowd involved by inviting a fan onstage to help him rap the lyrics to “m.A.A.d. city.” The only problem is that woman was white and didn’t hesitate to drop the N-word through the chorus.

“Am I not cool enough for you?” the confused fan asked Lamar, not knowing what she did wrong.

“You gotta bleep one single word,” he said and she apologized. He gave her another chance but she was just offbeat and couldn’t fall back in rhythm so Lamar swiftly kicked her off the stage.

Jemele Hill named 2018 NABJ Journalist of the Year

ESPN writer and on-screen personality Jemele Hill has officially been named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). The award recognizes someone “who has amassed a distinguished body of work with extraordinary depth, scope, and significance to the people of the African Diaspora.”

Hill’s time at ESPN hasn’t come without struggles as she was suspended back in October 2017 for tweets about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and eventually leaving SportsCenter which she hosted with Michael Smith.

“It would be a serious understatement to call this recognition from NABJ special. This organization has been a second family for me, both personally and professionally. I am humbled to be honored…” Hill says of the honor on the NABJ’s site.

First Trailer for ‘Mowgli’ Dropped

Director Andy Serkis’ adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling classic is finally coming to the big screen — and the first look just dropped. The movie follows human child Mowgli, who was raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India but then befriends a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera. This take on the movie many of us know from the Disney adaptations is said to be a “darker” spin on the story.

Will Smith and Nicky Jam to Produce 2018 FIFA World Cup Song

Looks like two of our social media favorites will be collaborating cross-genres to do it up big for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Reggaeton producer DJ Nelson told VIBEViva after Red Bull Music Festival New York’s Bien Buena live stream this past Wednesday.

“Nicky Jam and Will Smith are producing the new copa de futbol, they’re doing it together,” he said. “They’re making this big song and it’s just so crazy.”

It’s been reported that Albanian singer Era Istrefi and Smith will sing on the record with additional production from Diplo.
