With 1.3 million followers on Instagram, Luka Sabbat influences all things that are trending in the fashion world. The self-professed “creative entrepreneur” has also taken on the role of playing himself in grown-ish.

His latest project? Taking on a role in for Foot Locker and ASICS’s “Welcome to the Dojo” collection.

The collection highlights the rich history of cultural exchange between the East and West, pairing the “Welcome to the Dojo” apparel and footwear pack with the anime-inspired series The Sun and the Snake. Sabbat takes on the lead role of Sneaker Samurai and is joined by notable rappers Princess Nokia and YFN Lucci.

“I’ve never been animated in my life and that was really interesting to see,” he told CASSIUS. “It’s something new, I like to do new stuff. The colors [of the collection] are black and yellow, very subtle and normal. It was tasteful and chill and not trying to be something, which is my energy.”

The native New Yorker cites Bleach, Death Note, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, and Cowboy Beepbop as his favorite anime, and said that while he’s stopped watching it, he feels like his participation in the campaign brings it all full circle.

Sabbat said that his role hasn’t changed much from being involved in other campaigns as an influencer. He talked about the importance of being an influencer of color getting paid to do exactly what he’s already doing on his own time—being a trendsetter.

“All influencers should be involved with the creative process,” he said. “We usually end up being the creative directors of campaigns no matter what because so many times they put kids on mood boards and either they pay kids for their ideas or they steal them. It’s tight that I got hired to do it instead of hiring an alternate version of me and basing something off my Instagram without my actual input.”

The ASICS “Welcome to the Dojo” pack will be available on August 24 via Foot Locker and other retailers, including Footaction and Champs Sports. The first episode of The Sun and the Snake will premiere on August 21 on Foot Locker’s Youtube and Instagram channels. Watch the trailer below.
