Who thought that we’d ever see Shane from The L Word teaching the future leaders of America…even if it’s on television?

Freeform announced on Friday that Katherine Moennig will be making a guest appearance as a lesbian gender studies professor on grown-ish

According to Advocate, Moennig will play Professor Paige Hewson, who is described as “openly lesbian, uber-feminist, confident, yet still-effacing.” The majority of the cast, including Zoey and her friends, will be taking her class. This will be particularly influential for the show’s bisexual character Nomi who will see her professor as a mentor since she’s not out to her parents yet. Considering her biphobic double standard she exhibited in the first season, it seems like Nomi really can use a mentor this year to set her on the right path—particularly with the increasing pressure from her parents to find a nice Jewish boy.

While we haven’t seen Moennig in a huge role in a while, she’s definitely remained active.  She’s been on Ray Donovan as the title character’s lesbian assistant, Lena, since the series began on Showtime in 2013. She also joined Ellen Page, Kiersey Clemons, Hannah Gadsby, Olivia Wilde, Emily Hampshire, and Indya Moore in an all-female, queer-staged reading of Casablanca in Los Angeles. She’s also been announced as a producer for the upcoming L World reboot along with costars Jennifer Beals and Leisha Hailey.
