In the words of Will Smith, it’s officially “Summer, Summer, Summertime,” which means travel season is in full swing. That also means that airports and flights will be packed, so having Global Entry and being part of #TeamCarryon is a must—who needs the headache of checking luggage? Membership has its privileges. No long check-in lines for bags. No ridiculous fees for being a few pounds over the limit. And no waiting at baggage claim—you can head right into the sun. Now, getting all of your items in one bag may seem a bit daunting, but after this huddle your packing game will have you feeling post shape up fresh–smooth and flawless.

1. Bag it up

Nothing will cramp your style more than dusty luggage. If you want to be taken seriously in this travel game, you need to make sure you come correct. Cop a nice expandable weekender like this one for short trips and a sleek hard suitcase like this for those longer getaways.

2. Be a Two-Timer

The key to traveling lightly is selecting items that can serve more than one purpose. Think wear, wear. For example, board shorts are great for that day party on the catamaran, but the quick-dry fabric also makes them perfect for the beach as well—toting them is a win/win. Reversible items are also smart picks (two can hold you down for four days as long as you don’t spill any Henny on them). Add in a little confidence—and a nice rinse out—and no one will suspect you’re pulling double duty.

3. Shoe Game Proper

Men are often bigger shoe fiends than women—especially if you count sneakers. But in order to maintain your #TeamCarryon status you really should only travel with three pairs of shoes: flip flops, sneakers and dress shoes—rock your sneaks en route to save valuable packing space.

4. Act Like You Have Scents

Pick up a dopp kit and stock it with travel size versions of all the things you need to feel and smell fresh to death. Play it safe by using tried and true products that you know won’t cause breakouts, but shouldn’t be afraid to go beyond the basics by adding complementary products for exfoliation or moisture. Don’t have a grooming regimen? Brands such as Kiehl’s have great starter kits that include everything from facial scrub to body wash.

5. The Dead Zone

There’s nothing worse than seeing the woman of your dreams across a crowded room, hitting her with that winning line, then pulling out your phone only to find the battery is dead. Stay charged up with portable chargers and phone cases at all times. And just in case it’s a language barrier, not lithium, hating on your game, stock your phone with apps like Google Translate so that you’re prepared to shoot your shot in any language.

6. Wrap it up

What’s travel without taking time to sample the local flavors? But getting it in can go very wrong if you don’t have the proper protection—who wants to come back with a lifelong souvenir?  Don’t bet on your destination’s local stores carrying what you need (brand, type or accessibility) to ensure a safe time. Some countries, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), frown upon sex outside of marriage so they don’t even make condoms readily available. Here’s another gem: Amazon Prime is your friend. If you have a decent layover in a city/country where it’s available, just schedule a delivery to the airport and meet the driver for pickup outside the terminal. Talk about life changing.
