Missy Elliott Has More Flowers Coming Her Way.

Great news for the Queen Misdemeanor. CBS News reports that Missy Elliott will receive an honorary doctorate during Berklee College of Music’s commencement ceremony on May 11, making her the first woman hip-hop artist to receive the honor.

Also receiving honorary doctorates are Justin Timberlake (boooooo) and Alex Lacamoire, the music director of Hamilton. President Roger Brown will present the degrees.

“I am soooooo HUMBLED!” Missy tweeted on Tuesday. Lacamoire also took to social media to express his gratitude. “Being honored in this way by my alma mater means the world to me, you guys,” he wrote. “I’m over the moon with joy and I’m psyched to be grouped with these legends! See y’all in May.”

“After being written out of the final two episodes of the season and rumors swirling that the role could be recast, or the character killed off, deciding what to do about Smollett’s role on the show is a very big task—one that could impact the show permanently,” writes The Jasmine Brand. “The character of Jamal had a major role in the current season of Empire, including an engagement that capped off the season’s first half. Although, in most of the promos videos leading up to the series’ return, there are barely any glimpses of Jussie Smollett at all.”
