Is LaMelo Ball Going Down Under?

The New York Times’ Marc Stein says Australia’s NBL is “in pursuit” of LaMelo, but while the NBL’s Illawarra Hawks could be where he lands, “contracts are negotiated with the league rather than individual teams and players are then placed by the league with various franchises.”

ICYMI, LaVar Ball previously stated that LaMelo will definitely head overseas to either Australia or China.

T.I. and an Atlanta Church Are Working to End Mass Imprisonment.

With T.I.’s help, Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta hopes to end mass imprisonment. They’ll reportedly have a three-day conference at the church to discuss mass incarcerations, according to a statement released by The Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Warnock added that “goals of the conference include helping communities to fight the rise of the prison industrial complex in the United States and systems that unfairly imprison people of color,” according to Billboard.

Virginia’s Attorney General Is Calling for the Legalization of Marijuana.

Marijuana could soon be legal in Virginia if Attorney General Mark Herring’s wish is granted. According to NBC Washington, Herring believes the state should begin decriminalizing the possession of small amounts of weed, eventually leading to the legalization of marijuana.

“Herring’s announcement won’t have any practical impact on marijuana prosecutions, which are typically handled at the local level,” WJLA explains. “But Herring said he hopes his public support for legalization will help spur lawmakers to act.”

As noted by WJLA, past efforts to decriminalize marijuana have been thwarted by the Republican-headed General Assembly, so we’ll see how things go.
