On the one-year death anniversary of late artist XXXTentacion, fellow rapper Lil Pump took to social media to pay homage to slain Florida rapper.

Pump posted a video listening to a XXX song that made him emotional. He then followed up the emotional video with a bold claim that XXX is this generation’s Tupac Shakur.

As you can imagine, this did not fly over well amongst the masses. Many lambasted Pump for his opinions and stated why they disagreed with him.

One thing that is important to note, before his untimely death XXX expressed his displeasure with being compared to Tupac.

In January of 2018, moedia personality DJ Akademiks asked XXX if he planned on expanding outside of music, like Tupac did with acting. The rapper lashed out and said, “I’m better than Tupac bro.” He continued to say, “Tupac can’t make rock music. Tupac couldn’t do that. Tupac didn’t do that. Tupac was a dancer and a poet and a rapper.”

Pump has been one of the rappers that took XXX death the hardest, and shortly after his death Pump released a song featuring the slain rapper titled “Arms Around You.”

XXXTentacion’s estate has recently announced that he has a posthumous album, and documentary set to release soon.

It will be interesting to see if Lil Pump is featured on either of those projects.
