Just a day after the WNBA drafted a new crop of players, changing the trajectory of the young ladies’ lives, last year’s seventh pick, Angel Reese, has some big news herself.
The Chicago Sky star revealed that she purchased her first home at 22.
She tweeted the news on X and also took a swipe at those constantly criticizing her as she listed her accomplishments at such a young age.
“They said ‘she need to cover up’ so I went cover on VOGUE. They said ‘she can’t afford her rent’ so I went & bought a house. Thank yaaaa,” she wrote.

Reese’s flex was a response to her and teammate Kamilla Cardoso’s official fan page on X. It broke the news to its 26,000 followers with screenshots of Reese’s posts on another platform, where she announced how much she’s already accomplished in 2025, including being “so blessed” for buying a crib and retiring her mom.
“Knocked off 2 BIG things off my vision board in the first 4 months of the new year!” she writes.
Reese’s response to her haters comes after being critiqued for her racy outfits after gaining stardom. Even when her
Vogue cover was released, she tweeted, “I ‘covered up’ and gave y’all COVERGIRL.”
Buying her first home also served as a clapback, stemming from the criticism she received during an Instagram Live last year when
talking about her sky-high rent, complaining that her WNBA salary barely begins to pay for it.
“I’m living beyond my means!” she exclaimed into the camera, admitting that her rent is $8,000 monthly. “I don’t even know my salary for the WNBA. Does that even pay my car note?”
Reese makes more than the national average, but at $73,439 for the 2024 WNBA season, it’s on the low end for a professional athlete, so she hustled to have other income streams.
Those include sponsorships with
Reese’s, Good American, Amazon, and PlayStation, her own meal at McDonald’s, and—you can’t forget—becoming the face of Reebok’s Women’s basketball line.
Plus, the WNBA’s next CBA is being negotiated, so Reese’s bag is about to get even bigger.
