Few sneakers carry the cultural relevance of the Air Jordan 1, and much less the lore of the Jordan 1 High ’85 ‘Banned’ colorway, more commonly known as ‘Bred.’
For fans looking to grab a piece of history, the colorway is returning on February 14.
If you’ve been paying attention to news and leaks trickling out from Swoosh, you know they won’t be released in general. Instead, the Jordan brand is going back to basics. In honor of the model’s 40th birthday and His Airness’ number, only 23 stores will carry the kicks, making them even more challenging than usual to obtain.
However, the sticker price of $250 may fend off some of the hypebeasts.
Dubbed an NBHD release, it’s short for neighborhood releases, meaning the Banned 1s are reserved for boutique-like spots. The release spots—unveiled on the SNKRS app earlier this week— include stores all over the country, like spots in Chicago (of course), Philly, A Ma Maniere’s stores in Houston, Atlanta, and DC, a few spots in Maimi, two in Toronto and a handful spread around NYC.

A Ma Maniere— Houston, ATL, DC
Aside from the store list, Jordan Brand also dropped the official images. However, the pictures appear to show off the stiff leather that will hopefully soften up after some decent wear and a more narrow toebox. They’ll also come equipped with white ‘Nike Air’ insoles, black laces, and another red set in the OG black Nike box with the sprawling Nike logo atop.
