The latest athlete to be caught up in a domestic abuse controversy is R.J. Hampton.
The former Orlando Magic player was arguing with his child’s mother at an Oklahoma-area hotel, and she recorded a part of the conversation where he admitted to harming her.
Named Tiffany Jeffcoat, she posted the entire 90-second video to TikTok, adding that she traveled 11 hours so Hampton could see their son.
The video begins with her talking, and Hampton interrupts her by saying, “Stop talking to me b-tch, please. I don’t care if you have me on recording.”
Then they discuss a recent physical incident, with Jeffcoat saying that she has bruises “that came from your hands.”
“Of course they did,” Hampton responded, adding, “Did I punch you? Did I slap you?”
“Just because you didn’t punch me doesn’t mean that it was okay,” she says back.
Hampton urges her to stop playing the victim and complains about a recent trip she took to Miami, to which Jeffcoat responds, “My mom is more of a parent to him than you have ever been.”
“I don’t care if your mom is dead or alive,” Hampton answers. “Shut up.”
The video ends with her asking Hampton to pay for her hotel, but Hampton refuses because she was being a “thot” in Miami.
In another video, Jeffcoat explains that after the argument ended, Hampton left.
“I’m stranded in Oklahoma with no hotel and no car. R.J. literally snatched Halo off the ground, walked out, hopped in the car, and left,” she said while crying. “Didn’t tell me where they were going, didn’t take back any of his stuff. He’s not allowed to do that.”
She adds that she ended up calling the cops to tell them the situation and describe what her son was wearing in hopes of finding him and cites how worried she is, claiming he’s never spent more than 30 minutes with him alone.
