Between the Kansas Chiefs’ quest for a history-making three-peat and the Philadelphia Eagles looking for revenge from Super Bowl LVII, there are tons of storylines to focus on, including the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX.

Months ago, it was announced that Kendrick Lamar would be headlining the halftime festivities, fresh off defeating Drake in a beef that turned dirty as the 6 God questioned his children’s paternity, and K. Dot retorted with claims of him being a pedophile.

Ever since, fans have debated whether Lamar would perform the creep anthem “Not Like Us” on the Super Bowl stage, and now, TMZ has confirmed that he will. However, the executives have yet to choose the lyrics that will be omitted or whether they’ll let Lamar express his creativity. This could lead to further legal action from Drake, who’s already named UMG in several lawsuits regarding the song.

“Now, there’s no doubt Kendrick is doing the song — our sources connected to him, the network, and the league all confirm that,” TMZ writes. “What the lawyers have to decide is whether to broadcast the lyrics that allegedly defame Drake and risk a potential lawsuit.”

TMZ reports that the Wednesday before the big game is usually when the performer hands over their final setlist to the NFL and FOX bosses for an overview, where lawyers also step in and dissect lyrics to ensure they don’t get dinged by the FCC.

It’s not to say that Lamar can’t call an audible and rap lyrics he agreed not to, like his fellow Californian Dr. Dre did in 2022 when he reportedly said “still not loving police” from his song “Still D.R.E.” even though he was asked not to recite any anti-cop lines.

But just in case, the Super Bowl does have a five-second tape delay, an NFL employee for censoring, and FOX has a backup to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

But if the crowd at the 67th Grammys sang along to the “A minor” line, it would be pretty hard not to hear the harmonization at Caesars Superdome during the Super Bowl, which holds 83,000 people.

See how social media is reacting to confirmation that Lamar will be performing “Not Like Us” below.
