Days after her phenomenal (and hilarious) acceptance speech at Black Girls Rock!, Issa Rae’s revealed she’ll star opposite Amandla Stenberg in Fox 2000’s coming-of-age drama The Hate U Give.

Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Algee Smith, Lamar Johnson, and Common will also appear in the film. Rae will play an activist that helps Stenberg “find her voice,” while George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Power, This Is Us) will direct the film, which is adapted from the Angela Thomas novel of the same title.

“Stenberg plays a 16-year-old girl named Starr who grew up in a poverty-stricken area, but now attends a suburban prep school,” Variety reports. “After she witnesses a police officer shoot her unarmed best friend, she’s torn between her two very different worlds as she tries to speak her truth.”

Rae’s forthcoming role in The Hate U Give isn’t the only thing she’s celebrating. Earlier this month, HBO announced Insecure will be returning for a third season. It’s hella lit.
