Temporary peace settled across the nation as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced on Wednesday night after a dinner meeting at the White House that they had agreed to a plan to work out an agreement to protect our nation’s DREAMers from deportation.
“We had a productive meeting at the White House with the President,” they said in a statement. “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly and to work out package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”
But Thursday morning, 45 quickly took to Twitter to deny such a decision had been made. He said the decision to build the wall was still in full effect, however he did express slight (yawn) empathy for DREAMers.
As much as Trump claims that he empathizes with DREAMers, his actions, as expected, say otherwise. While the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of hard working people float around in limbo, he is focusing his time, money and energy into figuring out how to build an unnecessary wall. For the sake of DREAMers, we hope that someone comes to their aid sooner rather than later.
