It sucks when your day off is midweek.

Unless you have leave stacked up, holidays that fall on a Hump Days are little anti-climactic since you don’t get to package them with the weekend. That means you’re less likely to fly out of town, or even take a road trip. Even your friends who like to host end up in protest. BBQs and get-togethers are virtually non-existent because there’s less time to run around (and recoup from late nights and hangovers). You don’t have to be bored. Here’s the thing, if you don’t create a plan for the day it will slip away, and before you know it you’ll be back at work. Don’t be that dude. Here are a few ways to make the best out of your Independence Day.

Finish That Project

Whether it’s painting a room or writing a business plan, a midweek day off is a great time to buckle down and get that thing you keep putting on the back burner done. Stop procrastinating. If it’s a home project, invite bae or a friend over, put on some music on,  order takeout, and get it done. If it’s something that requires focus, turn off your phone and television and knock it out.

Get Your Money Together

Most folks don’t love handling their money and delay taking action. A random down day is a great time to get your affairs in order. Create a simple financial checklist and start taking action steps to handle your business. Get the bigger to-do items—like creating or revising a budget—first so you can chill out while you do the rest.

Shoot That Shot

If you’re single and there’s someone you’ve been wanting to connect with, now is the time to take the leap. Reach out and see whether the person is free to kick it. If so, plan something fun. If you’re all ready boo’d up, use the time to get off that one date idea you know will score you extra points.
