American Crime Story season will be scheduled to air in September of 2020, which is also the final stretch of the 2020 Presidential Election. This third installment of the show that digs deeper into the true events of crimes that have taken place.

The third season will be subtitled Impeachment and will focus on the events leading up to the impeachment of the 42nd President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton.

Probably the most shocking and revealing is that Monica Lewinsky herself, will be producing the show. Ryan Murphy is returning as executive producer, but he did not want a season focused on the scandal that almost got Clinton removed as president of the United States, without Lewinsky herself.

According to Vanity Fair, Murphy wanted to adapt an American Crime Story based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President. But Murphy struggled with getting Lewinsky to agree to contribute to the show. Murphy saw Lewinsky at a party in Hollywood a couple months ago and said to her “nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer, and you should make all the goddamn money.”

In an email sent to Vanity Fair, Lewinsky said, “I was hesitant and truthfully more than a little scared to sign on. But after a lengthy dinner meeting with Ryan, I came to understand even more clearly how dedicated he is to giving a voice to the marginalized in all of his brilliant work. I’m privileged to work with him and the other talented people on the team, and I’m privileged to have this opportunity.”

As mentioned before, the airing of the series will take place during the final weeks leading up to the presidential election. The timing is something Donald Trump will very likely take advantage of and be sure to make mention of during some of his rallies. Many of the shows fans have called on FX to change the airing date of the show.
