Few stars on the planet move the needle like Taylor Swift.
And it’s not just music, fixing concert ticket inflation, or attracting an entirely new demographic of football fans because of who she’s dating.
The pop singer can even make her legion of followers get political. After the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, she took to Instagram to reveal that she was endorsing the current Vice President and her running mate, Tim Walz.
She says she decided after looking up their policies, including where they stood on abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, and IVF. She also condemned spreading misinformation because of an AI clip of her endorsing Donald Trump that recently floated around the internet.
The lengthy Instagram post currently has over 10,000,000 likes, one of which is WNBA star Caitlin Clark. Before Wednesday night’s matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, she explained why she clicked the heart button but stopped short of endorsing Harris herself, instead citing the importance of voting.
“I think for myself, I have my amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing will be just encourage people to register to vote,” she said. “It’s the second time I can vote in a [presidential] election; at 22, I could vote when I was 18. I can do that, that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have. And that’s the same thing Taylor did,” she said. “And I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do, and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country.”
Even though Clark didn’t back Harris, some of her fans are already upset that she liked Swift’s post. These sentiments echo Angel Reese‘s account of Clark having racist fans who taunt her.
So now, some of her fans have shunned her and refuse to watch her play anymore. See the reactions below.
