LeBron James may have been seen dancing around at Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth Pop Out concert, but he hasn’t completely shunned Drake just yet.
King James is making everyone know that beef aside, he’s still rocking with the 6 God, and he made it clear in a recent social media post. He took to Instagram Stories to post a picture of Drake’s exclusive “Certified Lover Boy” Air Force 1s alongside the eternity emoji.
Like many of Drake’s collaborative efforts with Nike, the 2021 sneakers stay true to their similar form with just a few subtle hints to the Canadian rapper. The only telltale sign in James’ post that the Air Forces are Drake’s is the inscription “Love You Forever” embossed and written in cursive along its midsole. Other minor differences from the regular pair at your standard mall include premium tumbled leather draped over the entire upper and the usually dimpled stars on the outsole are replaced with hearts as well as the perforated holes on the toe box.
Thanks to StockX and GOAT, iterations of the collaboration are available on the secondary market, but according to Yahoo, the release has been canceled. Though the classic all-whites may never see shelves, Hypebeast reports that a white and cobalt colorway could be released in Spring 2025 for $130.
But of course, James got the exclusive release and, for some reason, used it now as an opportunity to show he’s still an honorary OVO member.
Just a few weeks ago, during Team USA’s exhibition run in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, “Not Like Us” was blaring through the stadium’s speaker during America’s game against Serbia, and James professed he’s a fan on the track.
“Damn with this song. It’s not the only song in America,” Steph Curry says, to which James smiles and says, “I love it.”
