The sneaker that caused an uproar for shattering the norm when it was originally introduced to the world in 1985 has evolved yet again.

The Air Jordan Retro 1 Hi has been remixed using one of Nike’s most durable materials, Flyknit. These babies are definitely more practical than the recent patent leather, satin and Flyweave iterations.

Since the shoe’s relaunch in 2012, there have been some technological updates, including improved flexibility and optimized ventilation. This newest version pays homage to the Air Jordan 1 blueprint by keeping the premium leather details throughout, including the Nike Air branding on the tongue, the Swoosh and the wings. With a graphic on the tongue that reads “19852017,” the shoe gives a nod to both the initial year of release and the launch year of this new design. The kicks will be available September 9 at Nike.com and Nike retailers.

So what’s the verdict? Worth the coins? We think true sneakerheads should add these to their arsenal, even if just for nostalgia’s sake.
