Hot Girl Summer.” I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It’s the phrase coined by Megan Thee Stallion, and it has absolutely taken on a mind of its own, and gone on to virally take over the internet this summer.

According to a Billboard report, Megan is in the processing of trademarking the viral phrase. The plan is to have the phrase used on merchandise such as shirts, bags, hoodies, sweatpants, and just about any article of clothing you can name.

Megan let a follower on twitter know that she indeed trademarked the phrase, but she made sure that she actually filed the application first, it was filed the same day she made the tweet.

In other news, Megan Thee Stallion was named XXL Freshmen of the Year, and even recently dropped her Freshmen of the Year Freestyle.

Meg isn’t the first rapper to make an attempt to trademark a word or phrase, back in March, Cardi B made an attempt to claim all money when the term “Okurrr” is used. Her application was denied by the US Patent and Trademark office, citing that the word appears too frequently for her to claim dibs.
