Juju Watkins has already reaped the benefits of the NIL boom, raking in the money while a college athlete, but now, she’s taking it to new heights with Nike.
She signed a deal with the swoosh last year, and now it’s proving they see her as the future of its basketball division, as she’s reportedly set to be the face of the newest silhouette, the Nike G.T. Future.
Watkins is receiving the coveted Nike athlete perk of a few player-exclusive colorways of the G.T. Future, which are set to drop in summer 2026 in Black, Deep Burgundy, and Electro Green. The other pair features a striking Metallic Silver, Chalk, and Light Crimson. She confirmed the reports by reposting Complex‘s story, along with a heart-hand emoji to her Instagram Story.
But we’ve got a year before we see those, so in the meantime, Nike has officially unveiled the G.T. Future.
Paired with a futuristic, sculpted upper, it promises to be the future of what Nike Basketball is aiming for, thanks to its base, outfitted with a Zoom unit, a full Zoom Strobel, and a Cushlon 3.0 midsole. The trio of technology provides ballers with the ease of quick movement, speed changes, and the ability to pick up on any other in-game adjustments that happen on the fly.

It also gives them the boost they need when jumping up for explosive dunks, rebounds, and for what counts most: that first step off, all while keeping you locked down with an inner bootie and padded heel.
“The G.T. Future is a new, radical, Nike-only expression of innovation, materials and form — built for the next generation,” says Jason Petrie, who designed the G.T. Future. “The shoe is designed to evoke emotion and promote performance with incredible bounce, a great ride and a super clean look, ushering in a new era of possibility for today’s young hoopers.”
Tech aside, Petrie acknowledges the revolutionary look of the model, which will surely remind sneakerheads of Nike basketball designs from yesteryear, such as the Nike Flightposite, Foamposite Light, and the Air Solo Flight.
“The G.T. Future has both the next-level Nike performance innovation and the wow factor of a spaceship or a new sports car,” says Petrie. “The shoe is evocative, futuristic and designed to connect directly with the next generation of hoopers — so when they put it on, they feel bouncy, fast and like they’re the freshest kid on the court or in class.”
Nike is ensuring they’re doing that by listening to the kids and gathering feedback from EYBL players, and getting its stamp of approval from Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybantsa.
DMV rapper and sneaker enthusiast Wale has also been spotted in several colorways of the G.T. Future, most notably at the NBA All-Star weekend.
A retail price hasn’t been announced yet, but expect the G.T. future to make its in-store debut during the holiday season.
