Between the rising prices of sneakers and begrudgingly shopping on the secondary market, dropping a few stacks on sneakers has become normal.
Rarely is that purchase actually worth it, but Nike’s new $899 sneaker is pretty revolutionary.
The Swoosh has hooked up with Hyperice, a company known for discovering innovative ways to help athletes recover faster by aiding sore muscles, to meld their core missions. In return, we get a stylishly high-tech offering that suddenly makes sore feet a bit more manageable.
With the introduction of the Hyperboot, athletes now have a shoe they can rock during warm-up or recovery. It’s equipped with a Normatec dynamic air compression system and heat, with technology similar to those leg sleeves often seen on your favorite athletes after a grueling game.

The massaging motor and heat levels each have three settings. The battery lasts 90 minutes after a five- to six-hour charge. All of these are controlled via Bluetooth with the Hyperice app on your phone.
Hyperice covered a lot of the tech, allowing Nike to focus on its industry-leading design acumen. It comes in a high-top package with two straps across the foot reminiscent of the Nike Zoom LeBron Soldier silhouette. Along with an oversized sole to hold all the tech components, it also has Swoosh branding. The shoe’s massive heel also holds some easily accessible buttons to turn them off, adjust the heat, power, and battery indicator atop a USB-C charging port.
Design and revolutionary tech aside, Nike then had to see what some world-class athletes think about its functionality and wearability. With LeBron James already giving them his stamp of approval, they tapped Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to test the Hyperboot.

“The Hyperboot represents everything I look for in my preparation: cutting-edge technology that delivers real results. I’m meticulous about incorporating the latest innovations into my training, and the way this device combines precise heat and compression technology has taken my warm-up to new heights,” he said. “The most important ability to have as an athlete is availability, and the Hyperboot is an integral part of my routine. It’s the first piece of tech I reach for before hitting the field — a true game-changer in how I prepare my body to compete.”
For track and field Olympian Sha’Carri Richardson, she’s excited to have her body loose and ready at a moment’s notice.
“While wearing the Hyperboot, I am able to start warming up and recovering while still being mobile. This is a huge benefit while traveling and being on the go,” she said. “As a sprinter, every millisecond matters, so having my feet and ankles already activated truly helps me prepare to perform at my best.”
The $899 sneakers will be available in sizes small through XXL —all men’s sizes six through 16— and are scheduled to release May 17 in North America, with wider availability expected later this year.
