He’s Mufasa, and it appears he’s found his Lion Queen. We’re talking, of course, about Briitsh-born actor Aaron Pierre and hyphenate Teyana Taylor, who obviously knows how to attract a successful man.
The two posted photos after the Oscars where it appears they’re letting the public know that they’re a couple. Taylor posted three Black and white photos of the alleged couple. Though their PDA is minimal, it looks like the two talented creatives could be more than just friends.
Per E!, the photos were likely taken at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscar Gold party. The two walked the red carpet separately, but joined up for a picture with Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts at the Vanity Fair Oscar party.
On the Black and white pics Taylor posted, she added the caption, “Oscar night in Black and white, no grey area” with a white heart emoji.
Neither Taylor nor Pierre have confirmed a relationship beyond the post, and it’s possible the next announcement could be about a mutual project, not that they’re dating.
Pierre has not been publicly connected to anyone and is presumed single. The 30-year-old broke out in the Netflix drama Rebel Ridge after playing Malcolm X in Genius: MLK/X last year. He also played Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King, leading to a video of his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show that went viral.
In an interview with Bumble, Pierre said he’s first attracted by energy.
“That’s a big thing for me,” he said. “I’ve always been like this, from when I was young. I’m very sensitive to energies around me. Do I feel safe in their energy? Do I feel happy, do I feel joyful? Do I feel seen, as well? Those are important things.”
Pierre and Taylor were seen together at the ABFF Honors in February, where he received the Rising Star award. But it wasn’t until now that they’ve made as broad a hint about possibly dating.
Taylor, 34, divorced former NBA player Iman Shumpert in 2023 after seven years and two kids together. Though she publicly defended him in an Instagram post announcing their separation, it was revealed in court papers that the marriage was impacted by Shumpert’s growing resentment of her career.
She has been single since her divorce and it sounds like she’s come to terms with it.
“I have so many years of my own private wars and battles and pain and different things like that, that I just I’ve always been great with balance,” she told LA Mag in 2023.
Whether it’s a personal or professional partnership, we’re rooting for these two. See how social media is reacting to the potential new couple below.
