Alright, y’all, prayers up for K-Ci, singer in the legendary R&B group Jodeci (which CassiusLife listed as one of the top five male R&B groups of all time in 2022), because he was recently hospitalized with a case of pneumonia.
Now, according to TMZ, K-Ci, born Cedrick Renard Hailey, is doing okay and is expected to recover. The 55-year-old’s manager, Michael Paran, told the publication that he is currently out of the hospital and home resting and has been prescribed antibiotics to help him heal. In fact, the only loss resulting from K-Ci’s health scare is the cancelation of Jodeci’s weekend tour dates.
From TMZ:
Michael says this weekend’s concerts have been canceled, but hold tight “Freek’n You” fans … they’re working on rescheduling the shows for later dates.
All upcoming Jodeci shows after this weekend will proceed normally, as the group expects K-Ci to make a full recovery with rest and care.
The legendary R&B group was slated for a Valentine’s Day romp in Brooklyn at Kings Theatre and a follow-up show in CT over the weekend — but K-Ci’s well-being is now the TOP priority.
As well he should be.
Listen, pneumonia isn’t the kind of ailment that is an automatic death sentence, but people have succumbed to it, and with the news of Irv Gotti’s passing from complications with diabetes — and Gotti is only the latest Hip-Hop veteran to die in his 50s (R.I.P. Gotti, DMX, Shock G, MF DOOM and all the others) — even hearing about K-Ci being sick is enough to draw the concern of fans.
But the “All My Life” vocalist is OK, and that’s all that matters. The fans will be ready to “Get On Up” live in concert once he’s well again.
Rest up and feel better, K-Ci, and we’ll see you back on stage once you’re healed up!
