NBA All-Star Weekend has a little something for everyone.
Basketball fans get to see their favorite team up with the rest of the league’s perennial stars, while others get a chance to see celebrities ball out.
But it’s also a massive day in sneaker culture, as Nike’s latest and greatest signature shoes get the All-Star treatment. Right on time, the Swoosh is debuting its Black Label Collection as the star-studded games head to the Bay Area. Like the collection’s been dubbed, it is a bunch of the brand’s best silhouettes in an understated manner, including the signature models from Giannis Antetokounmpo, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Sabrina Ionescu, LeBron James, Ja Morant and Victor Wembanyama.
The number of pairs available matches the athlete’s birth year to make it even more momentous. For example, there will only be 1984 pairs of King James’ LeBron 22 “Black Label.”
There are nine sneakers in total, rounded out by some of Nike’s nonathlete-affiliated kicks dedicated to basketball, like the GT Cut 3 and Nike GT Cut 3 Turbo. One of the standouts is the never-before-seen KD 18, which, with its distinct lacing unit, takes direct design cues from the ACG line’s Terra Humara.
Unlike some years past, all the sneakers available ditch the colorful makeup commonly seen around All-Star weekend for a much more muted tone draped in all black and a lightly accented swoosh on the medial side.
Be ready to swipe through your SNKRS app and the San Francisco Foot Locker on Feb.14 for a chance to buy any of the models.
A few classics are also appearing, including KD 4s inspired by his mother and his former team colors, the much-anticipated Foamposite One “Galaxy,” and even some Air Force 1 and Dunk models.
Aside from sneaker releases, Jordan Brand is also making sure to create some cultural moments as well, and that starts with the Jordan Jam Fest, which the brand describes as “the ultimate celebration of the Brand’s culture, legacy and family.” The festivities were developed with the help of former NFL player and Oakland’s own Marshawn Lynch, while athletes from the Jordan Family will also be in attendance.
The weekend will also include the Nike EYBL at the Future Game experience to showcase the country’s hottest young talent in basketball.
